2013/14 PROGRAMME IS OUR STRONGEST EVER LINE-UP OF FILMS
posted in Louth Film Club News 2007
2012 was an excellent year for new non-mainstream films and Louth Film Club has selected the best of them for its 2013/14 programme, which we think has the strongest line-up of films we've ever shown.
As usual, we will be showing films from around the world, this year from as far afield as Canada and Hong Kong, Bolivia and Saudi Arabia. From Europe, France once again provides us with some excellent films and there are great films too from Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Turkey and, of course, the UK. We are also showing a handful of classic films, including British Film Institute's new official No.1 ‘Greatest Film Of All Time’, Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo, recently rereleased in a new digital print.
Details and dates are now on the website — see What's On and click on the titles or posters — with links to trailers for most of them. But do pick up our free and colourful printed programme, from membership secretary Mark Merrifield's record shop, Off The Beaten Tracks, at 36 Aswell Street, Louth, or from the Playhouse Cinema on club film nights. It's also available from Louth Library or the Tourist Information Office.
We've held the membership subscription to £10 (£8 for existing members renewing by 31st January), but have had to raise members' ticket prices to £4 to cover increased costs. Membership forms are enclosed in the printed programmes, or you can print out a form from our website — see the Join us page. If you join as a new member before either or both of the last two films in the current season, on Monday 7th January and Monday 21st January, you will also be able to see them at the current members' ticket price.
Non-members are welcome at club films, paying the Playhouse Cinema's normal ticket prices.
