Set in Londonís Asian community during the Thatcher years. Omar gains the running of his Uncle Nasser's run-down laundrette and has plans to turn suds into cash. He and his white friend Johnny (Daniel Day-Lewis), have plenty of complications along the way. Director Frears does a superb job with a very good script.
