Judged by many to be the best British film ever made, although the two leading stars are American. Orson Welles plays amoral black marketeer Harry Lime, living underground in post-War Vienna, Joseph Cotten his old school friend Holly Martins. Graham Greene wrote the screenplay. Robert Krasker won an Oscar for the chillingly atmospheric photography.
